Ever wonder why such a wimpy text editor shipped with Windows?
Why Notepad has no features? How do you spell check a text document? How do you open more than 1 text file at a time? How do you open large text files?
Well, wonder no more and download NoteMagic, a text editor on steroids, with more features than some word processors. NoteMagic Features - Integrated text management for Windows. - Drag any file from File Manager, Explorer, WinZip, etc.and drop it into NoteMagic to edit it. Files can be dragged and dropped into any open workspace or into the minimized icon. - Open any text file file, edit it, then send it to whomever you wish as an email by clicking on the Send As Email button. Sent emails are BCC'd back to you so you have a record of what you sent and to whom in your default email program. - Text and .rtf (Rich Text Format) files can be imported into any open workspace and are placed in the open file at the cursor position. When .rtf files are imported they are converted to text files. - Open text files larger than 32k. Actually you can open them up to 8 MB. - Spell check your favorite text files with the built-in American English spell checker. Then, when you're ready to write that masterpiece in a language other than English, visit our web-site to download British, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, German, French, or Moby English dictionaries that seamlessly integrate into NoteMagic. The spell checker also includes an English medical and legal dictionary. - Automatically keeps track of the last eight text files opened. Reopen a text file with the click of a mouse button. This can be turned on or off in Options. - Favorite Files. Set a list of the text files you open all the time. That's where I keep my web-pages. This can be turned on or off in Options. - Input special characters (those non-english ones like à and ä) as well as font symbols like ¢, ¥, and ½ with a special character pop-up. This allows for international characters to be used and stored in your text files. - NoteMagic displays the line and column your cursor is in. - Open an unlimited number of text files at the same time, depending on system resources. - Specify which file extensions you wish NoteMagic to use when opening and saving files. The defaults are Text files, Ini files, HTML files and All files. - Stay on Top allows you to keep NoteMagic on top of everything else on your desktop. Very handy if you use NoteMagic to transfer information between programs. - Background colors and fonts can be customized to suit your tastes. Personally, I prefer a medium blue background with white text. - Extensive menu system and button bar. Right-clicking any open document displays a pop-up menu with the most popular editing features, including the Property Information on the document currently being edited. Tool bars can also be dragged to the sides or the bottom of NoteMagic. - A Date - Time Stamp inserts the current date and time into your text files. Go to Options|Preferences to determine how you would like the date & time to be displayed. - Context-sensitive help (click on the ? in the upper right hand corner, and then click on what you need help with) available throughout the program. |

Program information is now stored in a local .ini . file. - printing template was moved from the application directory to the \reports subdirectory. . - printing template was renamed from notepad.frf to notemagic.frf. File: New workspaces are now numbered sequentially, 'untitled.txt', 'untitled. Fixed. - name and company information was not being properly displayed on Help: About... screen. That was fixed. - Favorite Files on the main tool bar was displayed empty when there were no favorite files to display. Now Favorite Files only . displays if there are Options: Favorite Files and Options: Display: Show favorite files list is checked. - the MostRecentlyUsed list could not be used. That has now been fixed and the last 8 files opened in NoteMagic are . displayed in the MRU list under File. You can toggle the display of your MRU files at Options: Display: Show most recently . used list. - if there are 20 open workspaces and you decide to open the 21st one which has same name as the 3rd one you opened, . NoteMagic now displays a message stating that you are opening a file with the same name as one already opened and gives . a choice as to whether you wish to close the previous instance and continue loading the new file or bring the previously . opened file to the front to continue editing it. If you choose Yes and have made changes to the previously opened file, you . will be prompted if you wish to save your changes before loading the new file. . |
